Meet Valerie Ybarra

ybarra twinsAs a new mother who has just given birth and baby coming home, you will need some mothering yourself. I am a certified postpartum doula with a combined 30 plus years experience as a Doula, Newborn Specialist, Nanny, Traveling Nanny, Nurse Assistant within the maternity unit and Educator to new parents at Babies R Us. I maintain a calm environment, respect the privacy and confidentiality of the families I work with, and treat everyone with respect, courtesy, and politeness.

I’m here to mother you by providing non-judgmental emotional support when you are feeling blue, anxious, depressed, or just out of sorts and overwhelmed. Just some of the things I provide are: a mother’s massage before bedtime, run errands for you and the baby, and chauffeuring both of you to your first doctor’s appointment. A postpartum doula / newborn care specialist is very nurturing and giving by nature. I am here to make your first weeks at home a soothing, loving, and calming experience that will support you emotionally and physically. A postpartum doula or baby nurse provides overnight newborn care for your baby while you sleep, bringing your baby to you when it’s time to feed. You don’t have to leave your bed if you don’t want to, allowing you additional time to sleep and rest. Then we will work with you on sleep training/coaching your baby.

I bring the “back to basics” of newborn care with the new information that is given today. As a dai ma I provide traditional Indian Infant massage with oils right before bedtime to help baby to relax and aid with his digestive system and gas. As a Newborn Specialist and a Postpartum doula, I’m there to mother and educate you. Educating you with the best possible training for you and your newborn.

“Valerie brings a wealth of practical hands-on experience to assist you in learning and dealing with the challenges of newborn care; all while delivering reliable night care. Watching Valerie with our baby was nothing short of magical. She has a clear way with children that becomes evident the moment you hand your newborn to her. This doula was worth the moula!”
